Jacob (AKA) Israel,  with wives Leah on left, standing with Rachel, To right are Zilpah and Bilhah,
In the beginning of our history, Abraham of Ur in the Chaldees begat Isaac and Isaac begat Jacob and his twin, Essau who later left the compound. They were Hebrews who had migrated there from the East.  Jacob, later called Israel, was the father of Israel and the people were then called Israelites.

Jacob had 4 wives and begat 6 boys by Leah, his first wife, and they were;  Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and Dinah, a girl.  He had to work very hard to marry Rachel, his true love who was younger than Leah, her sister.  Rachel begat Joseph and Benjamin.  Each of these sisters had a lady in waiting, and Jacob also took them as concubines and begat from Zilpah, Leah's lady, Gad and Asher.  Bilhah, Rachel's lady,  begat Dan and Naphtali.  That's 12 boys and 1 girl. In their culture, the wives received the credit for producing sons which included those of their maids.  Jacob had been told by G-d that he would have many descendants  (Gen 28: 10-20).

Perhaps faces such as that of the 12 Tribes of Jacob
from the 12 sons of Jacob
Each boy produced many people and they became a tribe, so there were 12 tribes.  When Moses, born in c1391BCE,  led them all out of Egypt, he was 80 at the start of his trek.   They went back to the land Jacob had come from, Canaan, and they took a census at the beginning of the trip. The Hebrews had toiled for the Egyptians as slaves for 400 years from the beginning of arriving in Egypt till when they left.   .

1. Reuben had      46,500.
2. Simeon had      59,300.
3. Judah had         74,600.
4. Issachar had     54,000.
5. Zebulun had     57,000.
6. Dan had            62,700.
7. Naphtali had     53,400.
8. Gad had            45,650
9. Asher had         41,500.
10. Ephraim had   40,500
11. Manasseh had 32,200.
12. Benjamin had  35,400.

Total                   603,550  that followed Moses from the tribe of Levi for 40 years from Egypt to Canaan.  This trip started  when Moses was 80 in the year c1311 BCE.  When he arrived at his destination, he was 120 years old and died in a private place where no one would know where just outside of Canaan.

Since Joseph, much older than Benjamin, had become a leader in Egypt, his sons, Ephraim and Manasseh took over his right to land in Israel.  Joseph had been treated poorly by his brothers but had profited from the terrible experience and had become an important person in Egypt.  Joseph died at 110.   The Levites were to be teachers with many responsibilities, and were not to own land, so they were not counted as a tribe expecting land.

No one had ever dared taking this many people, slaves, on such a trip before.  Roman legions were usually made up of about 5,000 men.  Even then, they were highly disciplined.

By the time they had reached Canaan, Reuben, Simeon Naphtali, Gad and ,Ephraim had lost some of their population  while the others had increased their numbers from the beginning.  Judah had now increased to 76,500 people.
                                                      THE ASSYRIANS

Then in the year 721 BCE, the Assyrians, also Semites, led by Sargon,  attacked the people and took away by force of course, 10 of the tribes.  That was 27, 290 Israelites. They were deported to Assyria and Media.  The land  of the Northern Israel, decimated of so many, became a dumping ground for Assyrian prisoners from Syria and Babylonia.  Judah was also ravaged, but the Israelite King Hezekiah held out against the attack, paid a tribute to the Assyrians and ceded some territory.

That left the people living in the southern end of Israel which were the tribe of Judah and some of the Benjamites there at the time.

                                                       THE WOMEN

Rachel was born when her husband, Jacob, was 63.  He was 99 when he entered the LAND.  Rachel died at 36 near Bethlehem  after Benjamin was born.  She is one of four of the Jewish matriarchs.  She was said to be beautiful of form and of appearance.

Leah was the oldest sister.  Back then, the custom was that the oldest had to be the first to marry.  Leah had "tender" eyes.  Leah and Rachel's father was Laban, brother of Jacob's mother. Jacob was related to his two wives.

Bilhah and Zilpah were given to Rachel and Leah by their father, Laban.  That's all that is known about them.  Laban lived at Haran in Aram Naharaim.  Laban was referred to as "the Aramean."  Arameans were Semites who invaded the Fertile Crescent during Abraham's day and roamed between the Persian Gulf and the Amanus Mountains.  Aram and Israel had a common ancestry.  Israelite patriarchs wee of Aramaic origin and maintained ties of  marriage with the tribes of Aram.

                                                                  LEVITE TRIBE

Aaron, brother of Moses

Moses and Aaron were brothers from the tribe of Levi.  Moses made Aaron the high priest, and from him would come the Cohens who would be leaders of the Mosaic Law and had many responsibilities.  All Levites were responsible for many things, among them being teachers.  THEY SERVED ALL THE TRIBES AND LIVED AMONG THEM TO DO SO.  Today we are familiar with the Cohen Y haplogrouip of J1, descended from Aaron.  Being Jews are 0.02% of the world population, this isn't a lot of people.  " Out of about 7 million male Jews in the world today, about 5% or 350,000 are actual Cohens.," When the Assyrians took away the norther 10 tribes, they took away many Levites as well.

The Cohens were high priests and served in the Temple that King Solomon built in Jerusalem by 961 BCE.  Evidently they wouldn't have been taken by the Assyrians, but by 597 BCE and 586 BCE.  the Babylonians came along and took the remaining Judeans to Babylonia including Cohens with their Levite brothers of Judea.  The Babylonian Nebuchadnezzar II inherited the Assyrian Empire and he conquered Judah and exiled many Jews to Babylonia.  This land would be taken over by the Persian Empire when we remember Queen Esther and the holiday of Purim.  This was when Haman, man next to King Ahasuerus, the Chief Minister,  was able to start the killing of all Jews and Queen Esther was able to stop it.

T

The Babylonian Empire had been overcome by Cyrus, King of Persia in 538 BCE.
Already there had been the 10 tribes taken in 721 BCE.  Now there were a very large population of Jews in Babylonia.  There were still Jews who had been lucky enough to remain in what was now called Palestine, their ancient homeland renamed.    Persia's name today is IRAN.

Pashtuns of Afghanistan

Between 721 BCE and 586 BCE, we see Jews that had been stolen from their homeland to serve as slaves for other empires of the Assyrians, Babylonians and Persians.  Many of them wound up in Afghanistan and Pakistan for all these years and have kept to themselves for this whole time, calling themselves PASHTUNS.  They don't like to be called "LOST."  They've known where they are and what their ancient history is.  We're just now getting together and meeting them again.

"Research shows a relationship between Afghan (Pashun) and Jewish (Ashkenazi, Sephardic, Mizrahi) DNA and also that Afghan DNA is 2nd closest (68.1) to Ashkenazi DNA after Irani and Iraq Jews (67.9). Most of this research used Yusufzai, Afridi or Khattak samples from Pakistan and India.  Scientists can draw inferences about Afghan DNA in general from this. "

Our male line of Y haplogroup is QBZ67, a Jewish line.  There are also Pashtuns with a Q haplogroup.  "Q-M242 originated in Asia (Altai regions), and is widely distributed across it.[2] Q-M242 is found in RussiaSiberia (Kets,[32] SelkupsSiberian Yupik peopleNivkhsChukchi people,[33] YukaghirsTuvans,[34] Altai people,[35] Koryaks, etc.), Mongolia,[36] China,[37][38] Uyghurs,[36] Tibet,[39] KoreaJapanIndonesia,[40] Vietnam,[41] Thailand,[42] India,[43] Pakistan,[43] AfghanistanIran,[44] IraqSaudi ArabiaTurkmenistanUzbekistanOur QBZ67 started off as Q-M242.  It's just been upgraded with more testing done to the specimen.

A generation is measured as 25 years.  Abraham was born in the 2nd millennium BCE.  Let's say that this was 4,000 years ago.  From Jacob's time till today has been about 165 generations.  So the Pashtuns are about out 165th cousins.  A 4th cousin would be from not only our father's siblings, but then our grandfather, our ggrandfather and our gggrandfather who would be our 4th cousin.  We count up  4  grandfathers doing this.
